Mr Universe

Mr Universe is part of the Universe Championships, which are held annually by the National Amateur Bodybuilders Association (NABBA). The competitions are Mr. Universe (amateur and professional), Miss Physique, and Miss Figure.
The competition was first held in 1948, and was initially only for amateur male bodybuilders. In 1952 a bodybuilding contest for professionals was installed. According to the NABBA a bodybuilding amateur is someone who has "never entered and accepted prize money in an advertised professional event".
Additional competitions were added in 1966 (Miss Physique) and 1986 (Miss Figure).
Even though Mr Universe never got the publicity of Miss Universe, the rules are quite similar in this beauty contest, even though the focus is one muscle massage and definition rather than on beauty and facial attractiveness.

In order to avoide confusion with the NABBA Mr Universe the IFBB Mr. Universe changed its name to the World Amateur Bodybuilding Championships which is a bobybuilding contest that was first held in 1959. Arnold Schwarzenegger won this title in 1969 in New York and also Ronnie Coleman won this title in 1991 in Katowice (Poland).
